The future mini electric cooper can develop up to 218 hp in its SE version and will offer the choice between two batteries: 40 or 54 kWh.

The new mini is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated electric cars in the coming months. The British manufacturer begins a deep electric turn, with the very next arrival of the electric Countryman, a model that will rest on the same bases as the BMW IX1.

The next Mini Cooper will be offered in two electric versions. There will be the entry -level Cooper E, which will be equipped with a engine of 184 CH (identical to the current Cooper SE), while the Cooper is high -end will have a power of 218 CH. Although Mini has not yet announced it, it is likely that the family is growing a little later with a 100 % electric JCW version.

The Cooper E and the Cooper will also be distinguished by their battery, the first being with a pack of 40.7 kWh, while the second will benefit from a capacity 54.2 kWh. Autonomy should be between 300 km for the first, and 400 km for the second.

It is frankly not luxury given the fact that the current Mini Cooper is struggling, depending on the conditions, in exceeding 200 km with a single load due to a small battery with a capacity of 32.6 kWh.

Preserved driving sensations

Mini promises that the typical driving sensations of the previous models will be preserved, in particular thanks to the integration of the lithium-ion battery under the floor. This solution optimizes weight distribution and car agility, without compromising the driving pleasure.

Details concerning performance and load capacity remain to be discovered. We do not yet know if this new generation will be offered with thermal engines.

However, according to the first rumors, the new Mini Cooper should also be offered in a micro-hybrid version based on a 48-volt system with thermal powertrain and compatible with the future Euro 7 standard.
