Presented in early March and marketed in the fall of 2020, the Renault Twingo E-tech electric completes the manufacturer’s electric range on a more city segment and promises 180 km of autonomy.

Electric Twingo design

Unlike the ZOE which takes up the base of the Clio 4 with specific features, the RENAULT Twingo Electric inherits the same traits as its thermal equivalents. A way for the diamond brand to save money by facilitating the industrialization of the model. In reality, the Twingo Z.E. was planned as is, since the 2014 design.

The differences are thus minimal, boiling down to details on the bodywork. At the front, the grille is adorned with blue, just like on the lateral border. And again, this remains specific to the intense finish. Elsewhere, badges animate the central amount and the bottom of the tailgate, while the center of the rims are blue.

Same observation inside. The specific door threshold is only possible on the high -end intense. Around the driver, only the discreet “ZE” logo distinguishes this electrical declination on the gear lever, with its mode “B”.

Twingo Z motorization.E.

For its new electric Twingo, Renault provides a motorization derived from the ZOE block. The block, installed at the rear, is powerful of 60 kW (81 horsepower) is as much as the cousin smart eq forfour. Under the floor, the engine does not result in the trunk, the maximum volume of which is 240 liters. The 160 Nm torque is sent to the rear wheels, as in petrol. The 0-50 km/h is operated in 4.2 seconds, but the weight of the car is still unknown.

Battery and autonomy of electric Twingo

Given the dimensions of this Twingo Z.E., not good to embark the 52 kWh of the ZOE. A way to better stick to the city use of the model but also to reach a reasonable price with respect to thermal equivalents. However, the 22 kWh pack made by Renault is derived from it, with LG cells. With an exact useful capacity of 21.3 kWh, the diamond urban could travel 180 km in WLTP cycle. There is a degraded “Eco” mode, limiting power, making it possible to increase autonomy to 215 km WLTP.

As for the battery, Renault teams its electric Twingo with a lower capacity recharge than the zoe. Nevertheless, despite the absence of direct current and CCCS combo socket, the maximum alternative power is 22 kW (three -phase). At this power, the city car can recharge about 80 km in half an hour, or 80% of its battery in 1 hour. Small specificity, the load hatch is arranged at the rear right, and not at the front and the other electrical Renault.

Renault Twingo E-Tech Prix & Marketing

Marketed since September 2020, the Renault Twingo Electric is now available in three levels of finishes that are Authentic, balance, and techno (formerly Zen, Life and Intense). It is completed by a special series called Urban Night (formerly vibes). Sold only in formula with battery purchase, it is offered from 24.050 € excluding ecological bonus.
