I just discovered a functionality of Miui 14 on the Xiaomi 13 Pro (Test). This is the Fill Light mode which allows you to feed your sweet face back when you make a video call and there is not enough light.

This function, excellently translated into French by “filling the light of light” is part of the front camera assistant. Basically, this is a floating button that appears on your screen when using the selfie camera of your Xiaomi smartphone.

This assistant does not always appear and not in all applications. Oddly, it does not appear in the photo application, for example. Sometimes you really don’t have to try to understand with Xiaomi.

But let’s go back to the Fill Light function. I discovered it when I made a video call with my sister on Whatsapp. We often call each other late and I am often spinned on my bed in the dark.

So I see this little floating button at the top left of my screen. I press on it, a larger button with the text “Fill Light” appears, I press on it and the edges of my screen start to shine in an intense white. Many smartphones, including the Xiaomi, offer similar functions to light your selfies.

But here it is a contextual mode that cannot always be activated. Apart from WhatsApp, this button also appeared in Meta Messenger and in Microsoft Teams. He did not appear in Skype.

As I explained above, this “Fill Light” mode is part of the “Front Camera Assistant” function, one of the new features of Miui 14 (test). To activate it:

1. Go to the settings then in additional settings
2. Scroll to the special features section and press the front camera assistant
3. Activate the switch entitled Assistant Camera before

You can then adjust the intensity of the light diffused by the “Fill Light” mode as if you adjust the brightness of your screen, with a simple bar.

MIUI 14: Here is the list of next Redmi and Poco smartphones to benefit from the overlay

The deployment of the MIUI 14 overlay based on Android 13 takes its course. Today, no less than seven smartphones from Redmi and Poco are affected. These mainly entry and mid -range devices will therefore be entitled to the latest refinements of the Chinese manufacturer’s interface.
