Cool

The difference between the “French sound” and the “American sound” can be ? That we can often see on the equipment too …

Big grin

I found albums that do not appear on Qobuz.
To tell the truth, I think the opposite would be true too

To bring my little experience on Qobuz vs Tidal. I lived it a few months ago. At the start on Qobuz, my streamer asked me some reading problems (which I was finally able to settle late. ) which pushed me to go to Tidal. So yes the sound seems full, warmer also (the bass actually more present) but over time, a lack of life was felt on my installation. A side a little too “mat”, see “blocked” of the sound probably accentuated by my equipment. Since then I have returned to Qobuz which for me may seem less flattering than Tidal on the spot but more aerial in terms of sound and with more life ! Again, the comparison is done a lot in relation to the signing of its installation.

I was before at Qobuz and went to. Apple Music.
I was able to really compare the time of the free trial and did not really see any difference in sound with the lossless.
Nevertheless, I have made improvements to my system since and have been tempted to redo a test on Qobuz to validate this identical result.
I will previously install a quality switch.

I have exactly the same feeling as you, all things considered.
Another track to take into account also: the Internet supplier. Going from Orange to Free (Delta), I had a global drop in sound quality, a little comparable to the difference in listening between Tidal and Qobuz.
Nothing really mean and not enough to hang yourself on, but still. Knowing that in addition with Orange I could have installed a linear power supply, while with the delta it is impossible.
I really ask myself the question of coming back to Orange.

Because you must never forget that what is lost at the start of the channel can never be recovered then ..

Qobuz
Opinion, prices & info on the musical streaming subscription published by Xandrie .

French Qobuz also offers a more classic offer with MP3 in 320 kbps, the maximum authorized for the format. Thanks to partnerships with hardware and software manufacturers, the service is Available on a wide range of devices In addition to the Android and iPhone smartphones classics. We think of some high-end network readers, Kef connected speakers, Fiio digital player or the Roon environment and the Audirvana reader.

Associated with a quality USB DAC (Audioquest Dragonfly Cobalt), it is ideal for animating a stereo hifi system: high-end analog amplifiers and high-end audio helmets will do it honor. It is the guarantee of an optimal listening quality that we are seriously planning to consider ! This is especially the case For audiophiles lovers of classical music : a large catalog of albums is listening to it in quality 16 and 24 bits. Faced with its competitor Tidal who also plays the card of high sound fidelity, the Qobuz ecosystem appears to be more mature.

Tools intended for major music lovers

The editorial staff keeps up to date and regularly launches new playlists that finally allow you to discover new artists in the musical styles you love, but also the latest fashionable titles. Multiple editorial contents are also offered in the image of album and news chronicles of artists. It is finally possible to download most booklets in PDF format, a function that remains completely absent from other platforms.

High price packages

By raising 10 million euros in September 2020, the service offered to satisfy its international ambitions. It is also available around the world since 2018.

If you have to point the aspect of the Qobuz platform, it is clearly its pricing policy. The subscriptions remain indeed expensive facing certain competitors, And in particular Amazon Music which recently got into HD at a more affordable price. Even harder: Qobuz offers 30 days of free trial where Amazon Music offers the triple… Enough to tip the scales for many new subscribers !

Frequently Qobuz Questions

Answers to the most frequent questions about the musical streaming service.

If you want to listen to music in high resolution on unconnected equipment like a hihi channel, the easiest way is to use your smartphone with the Qobuz application. You can connect it in wired (mini-jack cable with or without adapter), wireless using a Bluetooth dongle to RCA or with a Google Chromecast Audio.

The Qobuz service allows you to listen to your dematerialized music in MP3, but also in 16 or even 24 -bit FLAC. These uncompressed formats offer an equivalent sound rendering or even higher than that of an audio CD. They are suitable for high-end listening equipment and require the use of a DAC to fully enjoy it.

Yes, you can import your playlists created on other streaming platforms thanks to the Soundiiz tool. It is compatible with most market streaming services.

January 1, 2021 ★★★ ★★ Reply Studio Premier A 19.9 € is too expensive I have the equivalent at Deezer for 5 € less and not everyone can pay a subscription year -round. So in the meantime I stay at Deezer because Tot or late Qobuz will have no choice but to line up.

May 8, 2021 answer sorry but qobuz does not offer the same sound formats, I clearly see the difference (having subscriptions with the two, deezer on my smartphone and qobuz on my audiophile equipment) a sound from Qobuz is much more specific provided to have the right equipment

January 30, 2021 ★★★★★ Respond 15 € / month if you pay in 1 time for the year ! ! ! I compared Qobuz with Tidal, Amazon, Deezer, Spotify, Youtube: with adequate equipment, the difference is sensitive ! Qobuz is the leader

January 30, 2021 ★★★★★ Reply I Deezer Premium, I tested the most basic Qobuz at 15 euros, fucked frankly Qobuz and far ahead, but the problem of Deezer is 16 bits 44.1 kHz compressed , but at Qobuz on certain audio tracks you can go to 24bits 192 kHz (of course they need the stuff that follows). But we don’t say that Deezer Prenium and the same as Qobuz. Qobuz I would classify it in front of Deezer, Spotify and Tidal, and second Tidal, after the rest I did not test apart from YouTube, but they must compare what and comparable. YouTube is shit with a hyper compressed audio, it is as if I told me to choose between an iPhone and an Android, bah for Android perfs and for far -off Android audio. Yes the iPhone leaves the Aptx (either the compressed mp3) and on Android its fate of the mp3 quality cd (or 16 bit) so perfs are far ahead of Apple with some Android (Oppo, OnePlus, Xiaomi and the big Samsung )). After as sorcerer says, if you do not have the stuff that follows you will have zero atroit audio, especially also if you listen to JULL or PNL. For things like it stays on YouTube, they use self-tune.

March 12, 2021 ★★★★★ Reply Amazon to the best Hi-Res bookseller, but in the absence of real exclusive fashion Wasapi fashion (their exclusive fashion only matt the other apps), well we type the resampling of Windows And suddenly the hi-res is useless; Unless you buy a compatible streamer. Tidal is MQA, it’s lossy and it gets along when you compare real 24/96. Only Qobuz remains in fact, it is the only ones with real hi-res and Bit Perfect Wasapi Push without resampling.

May 26, 2021 ★ ★★★★ Reply does not work with WiFi speakers, badly made navigation. I exceeded the free trial for a few days and was billed all year round. Qobuz refuses to reimburse while Spotify or Deezer would have done so without problem. In summary, thieves.

June 10, 2021 ★ ★★★★ Answer a month’s test carried out, the sound is there, of course, but not the rest.
Despite an expensive subscription, the catalog is not accessible in its entire streaming, certain albums remain in access in the form of extracts and therefore available only for. The site offers scrobbling last.FM, but again, it does not work, double scrobbling when using the PC application. Message sent to the technical team and answer “We are aware, but do not know when the problem is solved”. The PC application is full of bugs, it closes without warning, but continuous streaming, it is impossible to stop it outside to cut my amp to reset everything.
Another possibility, bringing errors on the pages of artists, albums, etc … Here again big problem, a person does not answer you email that the necessary has been done, but it is not the case, you report it And the galley begins with a person opposite who wants to prove that they are absolutely right, we are almost yelly, when you provide the proof that the work is done halfway. An absolutely not professional attitude and after a week, the changes are still not good. Database which is a real gouting, several artists under the same research reference when the names do not correspond (the musical style either …).
In short, a society that offers mountains and wonders, but which has absolutely not the means. They want to pretend to be connoisseurs, but we are very far from the account, just a bunch of broken arms who tinker and who do not communicate between them or badly.
For an annual subscription ranging from 180 to 250 euros, it is to make fun of the customer.
Valid for paid download in uncompromising quality, but for streaming, we will iron. And for customer service, flee, don’t ask them anything !

June 15, 2021 ★ ★★★★ Reply I completely advise against Qobuz, far too expensive for the service that it is, moreover customer service is lamentable.
The application leaves something to be desired (proposal for titles, not interesting playlists in comparison with Deezer for example), not to mention the choice of titles ..

July 23, 2021 ★ ★★★★ Reply Qobuz to despise its historic customers. Unable to take advantage of new more accessible offers. Saying customer service. Damage !

Dissatisfied

July 25, 2021 ★ ★★★★ Reply after the 30 -day trial period after an hour to unsubscribe, impossible ! Result: invoice of 180 € and yet I no longer have access to the service. Customer service does not bother them, however, although I repeat it, for them I still have access to the service … In short, I paid in spite of myself a staggering sum for a service to which I do not have access … Flee

September 30, 2021 ★ ★★★★ Answer having for two years a subscription (25.99 monthly) .I note that since the new packages, although paying 25.99 every month I can only listen to extracts .
I unsubscribe !

November 2, 2021 ★★★★★ Reply Qobuz is far ahead in terms of files in hi-res formats, they were the first with Tidal to bet on this type of format.
The price may seem to raise, but the quality is at the level. Then you also have to invest in an audio system capable of using this file format, otherwise you will not have the impression of listening to hi-res.
The catalog is well provided, for a while it was mainly the classic which was the prerogative of Qobuz, since they have developed their catalog and we find almost all the artists available on the other platforms.
The price also lowered compared to the launch of the service, at the start the annual rate exceeded 200 €. Today we are just below 150 € for the same audio file quality.
If you are ready to invest in a powerful HiFi system then you can take advantage of Qobuz with satisfaction. If you hope to use your hi-res device (iPhone and other Android smartphones not approved) do not expect to rediscover your favorite titles without the slightest compressions.
