The new Harley-Davidson electric motorcycle is Livewire del Mar

We know more about the last Harley-Davidson electric motorcycle ! Her name is the Livewire del Mar and it should be normally lighter and much cheaper than her big sister the livewire One.

After the Livewire One, here is the Livewire del Mar ! With this motorcycle, Harley-Davidson wants to try to compete with medium-sized displacements such as the Yamaha MT-07. The name of this model was not chosen at random, because it is a reference to the Del Mar races field in California, where flat track races often take place.

Compared to the design of this two-wheeler: the engine, the battery, the electronics were all developed internally by Livewire. But the big plus of Del Mar is that thanks to the help of the Taiwanese company Kymco, Livewire has developed a modular electric platform called “Arrow”. The latter should be available in 3 systems ! Basically, we have:

• S2: an “medium” motorcycle system in order to place itself on the market for cylinder medium -sized.
• S3: for “light” motorcycles with Kymco collaboration.
• And finally the S4:This last system is intended for “heavy” motorcycles and it will increase battery and recharge capacities.

The three systems will have the particularity, rather practical, to be able to be updated remotely by the teams of the American firm without needing to pass in concession. This is what could adjust, over time, the few anomalies that could have the motorcycle.

The Livewire del Mar, a cheaper model

Through the Arrow platform which makes it possible to decline the Livewire del Mar in different models (less powerful and lighter versions). The price of the vehicle should be revised downwards and will inevitably be cheaper than the livewire One was, which, as we recall, had been marketed at its beginnings at a price of 33,900 euros !

Regarding the lithium-ion battery, for the moment, no information has been communicated. All we know today is that the battery will be made up of a format of 21,700 cylindrical cells instead of the previous format of 18650 cells. It is a process identical to that of Tesla, Samsung or LG which promises more reliability.

To have more information, you will probably have to wait until May because Harley-Davidson announced that they are organizing a presentation to investors. In addition, Jochen Zeitz, the CEO of the Milwaukee and Livewire company, announced that the next electric model should be introduced in the second quarter of 2022.
