Power and autonomy: the qualities of the Peugeot E-3008

The new Stla Medium electrical platform of Stellantis, used for the first time by the Peugeot E-3008, establishes new standards in terms of performance, efficiency and autonomy. The vehicle offers three electric engines that meet the various customers of customers.

  • 210 hp – 2 -wheel drive – autonomy 525 kilometers (battery 73 kWh);
  • 320 hp – 4 -wheel drive – 525 km autonomy (73 kWh battery);
  • 230 hp – 2 -wheel drive – 700 km autonomy (98 kWh battery).

The high voltage lithium-ion 400 volts battery (NMC) is placed under the floor to optimize the interior space. Thermal battery management allows an ultra-fast recharge and preserves the battery life. This is guaranteed 8 years or 160,000 kilometers (for at least 70 % of its capacity).

For its third generation, the Peugeot 3008 becomes electric. Thanks to a large battery, the compact SUV promises 700 km of autonomy !

Design and dimensions of the Electric Peugeot 3008

The Peugeot E-3008 measures 4.54 m long, 9 cm more than the previous generation. Its height increases slightly, winning 2 cm to reach 1.64 m, while adopting a brighter design. The major transformation of the 3008 is its FastBack appearance, a term used by Peugeot. This means that it adopts a style close to a cut SUV, characterized by a downhill roof, an inclined glazed back and a high trunk. Peugeot favored aesthetics to the detriment of practicality, reserving the latter for the future 5008, which will also have an electric version.

Although the 3008 retains marked angles, Peugeot has opted for a more refined design. The brand has eliminated chrome in favor of lacquered elements and integrated the seals of the windows in the doors. At the rear, the three claws are visible in the lights. In addition, a large part of the shield is decorated with a salient element in black, thus making it apparently more susceptible to the impacts.

PEGEOT 3008 Electric interior

Inside, Peugeot knew that expectations were high. The first two versions of the 3008 had been greeted for their careful interior design. The second version had introduced entirely digital i-cockpit. The new model was therefore to surpass its predecessors. And it does it thanks to an improved version of the I-Cockpit, called Panoramic I-Cockpit. This has a 21-inch curved screen combining the dashboard and the infotainment system touch screen. LED lighting below accentuates its impression of levitation. Although the interface is oriented towards the driver, the passenger can also access the tactile part. However, the basic speed version will be equipped with two 10 inch screens mounted on a single support.

In the middle of the dashboard is a screen with customizable touch buttons. This allows you to configure direct access to 10 favorite functions, such as calling a specific contact or initiating navigation to a frequent destination. The control of the gearbox is also integrated into the dashboard, near the Stop/Start button. These components are arranged on a structure on the driver’s side, establishing a clear delimitation with the passenger space. The latter benefits from a location for wireless recharge of his smartphone. The new steering wheel also includes touch controls.

We can opt for adjustable lateral supports that adapt to the shape of the body by inflating and deflanting ! Although the 3008 has a more dynamic design, it offers a generous 520 -liter trunk area, including in its electric version. In addition, the rear seat can be equipped with a heating function.

Battery, motorization and performance of the Electric Peugeot 3008

Technically speaking, the 3008 introduces the Stla Medium platform, designed for group electric vehicles of the group, while remaining suitable for hybrid versions. However, Peugeot first presents the entirely electric version of the 3008. More specifically, several versions, since the brand has developed a range offering three different technical configurations.

The basic model is a two -wheel drive version with a 157 kW engine, equivalent to 210 hp. It is coupled with a 73 kWh battery, offering a range of 525 km. With this same battery capacity, a four -wheel drive version is offered, combining a 157 kW engine at the front and another 83 kW at the rear, totaling 320 hp. According to Peugeot, this configuration also offers a range of 525 km. To top it all, a version equipped with an exceptional 98 kWh battery is available. In two -wheel drive, with a power of 170 kW, or 230 hp, this variant promises an impressive autonomy of 700 km. This is close to the best results on the European market !

Autonomy and recharge

Peugeot opted for a 400V NMC battery. Basically, the vehicle is equipped with a three -phase on -board charger of 11 kW, but Peugeot will also offer an optional 22 kW charger. Regarding rapid current recharge, the capacity reaches 160 kW. Note, the E-3008 offers the V2L function, making it possible to use the energy of the vehicle to supply an electrical device (up to 3 kW and 16A).

In addition, the V1G function offers the possibility of adjusting the recharging according to the time slots, thus making it possible to load the vehicle when the cost of electricity is reduced (provided you have an appropriate contract). In addition to the essential heat pump, the 3008 is equipped with three -level regenerative braking, adjustable via pallets located on the steering wheel.

Marketing and prices

The electric 3008 will be made in Sochaux, France, and its placing on the market is scheduled for February 2024. Although the prices have not yet been revealed by the brand, given Peugeot’s current trend to position its prices in an ambitious way, they could be quite high. The most affordable models should however remain eligible for the bonus, that is to say below 47.000 €. However, the model with the largest battery capacity could get closer to the 60.000 €.
