Togg, a new Turkish brand

Important car producer worldwide, Turkey now has its own car brand. Togg begins the marketing of a 100 % electric SUV in segment C, the T10X. The latter will arrive in Europe at the end of 2024.

New country and new automotive brand. After Vietnam which, with Vinfast, has for the first time in its history of a manufacturer, it is Turkey’s turn to embark on this adventure with the brand Togg, acronym of Türkiye Otomobili Girişim Grubu (group of Automobile companies in Turkey, in French).

Founded in 2018, the latter belongs to a consortium bringing together investors, industrial groups and the Union of Chambers and Scholarships of Turkey of Turkey. It counts in particular, the Anadolu Group. A company that achieved a turnover of 182 billion Turkish pounds in 2022 (8.7 billion euros), in particular by investing in drinks, supermarkets, agriculture and automotive with partners Like Kia, Isuzu and Honda.

A 100 % electric SUV

Togg plans to put a four -wheel drive version on the market next independent. That of the launch being a rear transmission electric car. Inside, the vehicle is home to a central screen of 29 ” with an application shop and the possibility of paying a multitude of services online from the car from the car.

Marketing in France at the end of 2024

According to the manufacturer, the start of this model is a success because it announces to record nearly 180,000 pre -orders with an account of 60,000 Turkish pounds (2,900 euros). For the launch of this new product, the manufacturer has organized a digital lottery to determine which will be the first 20,000 customers to take delivery of the vehicle. This craze increases the production of the factory located in Turkey, in the Bursa region, (same region as the Renault factory, Note)), which goes from 20,000 to 28,000 units.

Concentrating initially on the Turkish market, the manufacturer promises a marketing of the T10X in Western Europe at the end of 2024. He plans to sell it in France, Germany, Italy, Sweden and the Netherlands. A sedan of segment C and a coupe must complete the range in the next semesters.

By 2030, Togg plans a range made up of five models on the market and announces fairly impressive ambitions of a million vehicles on European roads by the end of the decade.

As a reminder, the automotive industrial sector employs 500,000 people in Türkiye. Renault (which produces the Clio), Ford, Toyota, Hyundai, Fiat as well as Mercedes-Benz in the truck, have important production sites. With a market share of 15 %, the automobile represents the country’s fourth export sector.

Up to 500 km of autonomy

Direct competitor of Tesla Model Y and Volkswagen ID.4, TOGG T10X will be marketed in two variants called V1 and V2. Both use a 218 hp engine on the rear axle of this propulsion. The Togg T10X V1 is equipped with a 52.4 kWh battery for a 314 km WLTP autonomy while the V2 benefits from a pack whose capacity is brought to 88.5 kWh and which announces a WLTP action department 523 km. A variant with two engines and four -wheel drive would also be planned. Quick recharging would drop from 20 to 80 % load in 30 minutes.

Selfies riding

If the Togg T10x has an external style to say the least, it is in its cabin that we must go and find the “strong point” of this connected SUV. Indeed, the dashboard incorporates a 12-inch digital dashboard completed by a 29-inch diagonal infotainment screen halfway between the Honda E screen banner and the hyperscreen of a Mercedes Eqs. But the Turkish novelty takes on its intelligent object dimension by the presence of an on -board vocal control camera which allows occupants, including driver, to take selfies and then share them via social media platforms. The driver will therefore be able to take a picture without letting go of the steering wheel.

Togg did not seem to skimp on driving assistance and will complete the adaptive cruise control of an active “rush hour” driving function up to 15 km/h to evolve in complete safety in plugs.

Try your luck

Eager to stand out until the end, Togg said that the first copies of the T10X can already be pre -ordered via a dedicated application. Better still, the manufacturer will carry out a draw to elect the lucky elected officials in the event of orders superior to the number of copies which will be produced at first. Customers will also be delivered to your home and the first should be served in April.

Price and deliveries

Togg estimates that 20.000 copies of its T10X electric SUV will be produced in 2023. But the Turkish manufacturer targets a total volume of 1 million vehicles by 2030, specifying that five different models will constitute the end range. The factory is located near Istanbul and will produce both for the Turkish market and for export, starting with Germany or Togg has already established Togg Europe GmbH, whose object is ” development, manufacturing and trade in electric vehicles “.
