The electric Range Rover will arrive in 2024

Iconic model on the luxury SUV market, the Range Rover is a facelift. Competitor of the Mercedes Gle or the BMW X5, the great British SUV has just been completely revealed updated. Both larger and more elegant than its predecessor, this fifth generation of Range Rover is also promised in 100 % electric version.

For the time being, the manufacturer does not give any detail as to the characteristics of this “zero emission” version, but gives us an appointment from 2024 for the official launch.

Two hybrid versions to wait

If we will have to wait a few years before taking the steering wheel of the Electric Rover Rover, the manufacturer makes us wait with two hybrid variations rechargeable.

With a respective power of 440 and 510 horsepower, the P440E and P510E versions associate a 6 -cylinder Ingenium engine with an electric block of 105 kW capable of acting alone up to 140 km/h. Offering 38.2 kWh of capacity, including 31.8 useful, the battery provides up to 100 km of autonomy. The prices of these two trendy versions are not yet displayed on the manufacturer’s site, but should be greater than € 120,000.

What is a rechargeable hybrid car (PHEV) ?

What are rechargeable hybrids (PHEV-Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) ?

Rechargeable hybrid electric vehicles are often designated by the name “hybrid” or “Phev” (hybrid plug-in electric vehicle), to distinguish them from semi-hybrid vehicles (MHEV-MILD HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE). PHEV vehicles have so much internal combustion engine that of a electric motor. By combining the best of two technologies, a PHEV offers optimal efficiency and performance.

In electric mode (EV), a rechargeable hybrid car provides quasi-situious driving comfort and produces no emissions. For optimal refinement, it offers a barely noticeable transition between the motor skills of the petrol engine and that of the electric motor. You will benefit from the advantages of 100 % electric driving, while having a conventional combustion engine, especially for long journeys.

Should PHEV cars be recharged ?

Unlike semi-hybrids (MHEV), a PHEV vehicle has a heavier and more powerful battery, allowing it to travel several tens of kilometers with electrical energy, or even more than 100 km, depending on the chosen model (cycle cycle (cycle WLTP). This implies that the battery must be recharged at regular intervals.

Recharge either at home, by choosing between a standard socket or a domestic charger installed by a professional, or through the ever -increasing network of public charging stations, which offers conventional or fast charging stations. Many of our PHEV models are responsible via fast chargers of 0 to 80% in 30 minutes barely. Our advisers are at your entire disposal to give you more information regarding the load solutions best suited to your situation, and in particular on the partnership with our Privileged supplier ENEVOS/’DIEGO’.

PHEV: operation & advantages

How a rechargeable hybrid (PHEV) ?

The electric motor provides a couple directly to the wheels to which it is coupled (variable depending on the model) and can also recharge the high voltage battery thanks to the braking by energy recovery. Consequently, the autonomy in 100% electric mode decreases less quickly. The battery is often used in hybrid mode, in which the combustion engine and the electric motor work in perfect harmony to provide the best possible performance depending on the circumstances, the journey and the behavior of driving.

In what mode does a PHEV vehicle drive ?

By default, the car automatically determines the most effective fuel consumption for driving conditions in question, that is to say 100% electric (often in urban traffic) or in hybrid mode (when more power is required , especially during longer and faster journeys). However, if the battery load allows, you can manually choose to drive in 100% electric mode, without any combustion engine intervention.

Financial advantages of a PHEV car

Of course, PHEV cars benefit from a number of financial advantages. In addition, you can also save considerable fuel, especially during shorter journeys in urban areas, when you can use 100% electric mode more frequently. More specific details depending on the model chosen can be found in the preview below. Of course, our sales advisers are also available to explain all the advantages.

Top electric cars

Clean Automobile is a community information site that is dedicated to everything related to the automobile and the environment. The most popular themes of our Auto Blog are the electric car and hybrids, but we also approach the GNV / GPL car, hydrogen car, political and environmental aspects related to the automobile. Internet users are invited to react to blog articles in the comments, but also in the various forums that are made upon them. The most popular of them is certainly the electric car forum which centralizes discussions relating to the arrival of these new vehicles. A lexicon centralizes the definitions of the main technical words used on the blog, while a database of cars (marketed or not) lists electric and hybrid cars.
