  • + € 1,510 on iconic super load and optimum load
  • + € 1,800 on Equilibre, Evolution ER Super Charge and Techno Optimum Charge
  • + € 2,300 on Evolution ER Optimum Load

A version above € 45,000

With this increase, the high -end Iconic variant in its “Optimum load” version therefore exceeds the ceiling of € 47,000, which lowers its bonus by 6,000 to 2,000 € (in 2022, since the scale 2023 still drops the aid). By adding some options to the lower versions, the risk is also to increase the bill and lose more than half of the bonus.

In addition to that, Renault has reworked the range by removing certain versions. The high -end techno and iconic finishes are only equipped with the most powerful engine of 220 hp and the big battery of 60 kWh. On the balanced finish, the large engine version and large battery with “Optimum load” has been deleted.

Renault Mégane Electric: The prices explode, the range is altered

The French manufacturer has just reviewed the prices of its compact 100% electric. The mega price increases sharply, it is no longer possible to buy it at less than 30,000 euros.

Despite the outbreak of the price of components, especially with regard to electric batteries, Renault had so far preserved itself to increase the price of its flagship model of 2022, the megane e-tech electric. Like many of its competitors, the diamond brand reviews its pricing strategy at the end of the year. Consequence: all versions of the Megane see their price increase on December 1. But Renault also takes the opportunity to rebuild its catalog. Explanation.

The first consequence of this reshuffle of the range is the disappearance of the basic version of the Megane, the EV40 version which allowed, once the ecological bonus applied to go below 30,000 euros. To reach this rather aggressive rate, Renault had to consent to some sacrifices at the recharge level, which greatly limited the capacities of his vehicle. We had not failed to emphasize this in our test advocating to opt for the option Boost load. This is also what Renault did in its catalog since the Megane EV40 is only available with this option to pass the load capacity from 7.4 to 85 kW. This option previously cost 2,000 euros, but in the process of increasing the whole range prices, the consumer is asked for an additional 1,800 euros. Indeed, the new entry ticket of the Mégane EV40 is now at 39,000 euros.

Watch out for the bonus amount

Price increases are more or less similar on the “big” battery version of the French electric compact. Indeed, depending on the level of “techno” or “iconic” finish, it is necessary to count on an increase which varies from 1,300 euros to 1,800 euros. The other major consequence of these increases is that several levels of finish of the mega no longer allow you to have the ecological bonus at full rate. Indeed, out of the six models currently available on the Renault online configurator, three exceed the only critic of the 47,000 euros. Relatively inexpensive electric car, the Megane is switching to a vehicle at a high price compared to the competition. Indeed, on this level of price, the opponents of the Mégane EV60 are no longer called VW.4 and MG4, but Mercedes Eqa and Audi Q4 e-tron sportback.

Things could still be complicated for the future mega buyer in a month since on January 1, 2023, the amount of the ecological bonus should still change. Admittedly, it should increase to 7,000 euros for half of the most modest households, but it should be amputated by 1,000 euros and therefore reduced to 5,000 for the other half of the French.
