Concretely, this new Tidal Free offer will allow users to benefit from audio quality going up to AAC at 160 kbps – against 320 kbps for the classic previous offer – with the complete catalog of the platform, more than more than 80 million titles, editorialized playlists and, above all, advertising interruptions that Tidal promises to be “Limited”. Furthermore, users registering for the free Tidal offer will not be able to take advantage of the offline listening of the songs.

A CD quality available from 10 euros per month

In addition to its new free offer, Tidal has also reviewed its other pricing segments. The service has so far offered two offers, Tidal Premium and Tidal Hifi, respectively at 9.99 and 19.99 euros per month. From now on, Tidal will decline in two paid offers, Tidal Hifi and Tidal Hifi Plus. The two offers will be offered at the same rates as the previous packages, but with a distinction as to the maximum audio quality.

Indeed, Tidal so far limited HD audio, in CD quality, to its Tidal Hifi offer to 19.99 euros per month. Now, subscribers to the new Tidal Hifi offer at 9.99 euros per month can benefit, up to a quality up to 1411 kbps, from CD quality in 16 bits to 44.1 kHz. For its part, the Tidal Hifi Plus version will allow you to benefit from an audio quality up to 9216 kbps, from 24 bits to 192 kHz. The HiFi Plus offer will also allow users to directly pay the artists by choosing to allocate 10 % of their subscription to the most listened to the artist. Finally, this Premium subscription will remain the only one to offer listening in 3D audio with Dolby Atmos and Sony 360 Reality Audio.

Like Amazon Music, these new Tidal offers seem above all to be a way for the streaming service to respond to Apple Music’s assault at the start of the year. The Apple platform had indeed decided to provide HD audio quality for no additional cost in its offer at 9.99 euros per month. From now on, Tidal therefore becomes a little more competitive, even if 24 -bit quality at 192 kHz remains limited to subscriptions to 20 euros per month.
