You can download Adobe Lightroom for free in its trial version, the license is then available in the form of a subscription. Multiplateform and in French, it is available for PC, Windows and Mac in its Classic version, but also for mobile platforms in application for Android and iOS (iPhone, iPad).

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is one of the software in the Adobe suite. Very powerful, it offers a wide range of features: cataloging photos and image editing, color management, cropping, saturation processing, contrast adjustment, programming of predefined actions, exporting photos, etc.

How does Adobe Photoshop Lightroom work ?

From your raw photos in RAW format, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom allows you to give style to your shots. It also facilitates the organization of your collection of photos, and allows you to apply effects and treatments on all photos of a file or a directory. Note that the software supports a large number of file formats, and of importation cameras.

Photo manager

The Photoshop Lightroom Photo Manager is intuitive and very well thought out. Indeed, the software facilitates the selection of photos to import and detects duplicates so as not to overload your file.

Once the images are imported, users can easily sort and filter the photos to find them quickly: sorting by date of addition, albums, cameras, keywords or notes (if you have already done a first treatment).

But that’s not all, Lightroom has a very practical tool, Adobe Sensei, which allows the classification and intelligent display of your images (images with a person, images of the sea, the mountain, etc.) very useful when you have a lot of photos and want to classify them.

If you have found the photo you want to touch up, simply select it and right click to launch the post -treatment tool in the dedicated workspace.

Image retouching features

With Adobe Photoshop Lightroom you have access to very many image and photo retouching features: cropping, before/after comparison, filters (exposure, shadows, contrast, colors, grain, etc.), colors (white balance, pipette, temperature, shade, saturation, vibrance, etc.)). Whether on your computer screen or tablet, the different settings are easy to access with in particular sliders to accurately adjust the different effects. And if you want to save time, select the auto mode when it comes, in order to give the software to make the optimal configurations.

Note that, as Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom incorporates a non-destructive retouching system that allows you to save your projects while keeping the original photos, but it does not offer a layer system. You must therefore think of canceling your changes if these do not suit you.

Lightroom incorporates friendly and easy -to -access retouching tools. But that’s not all ! The software incorporates an AI (artificial intelligence) which allows you to automate certain settings, such as brightness or color balance for example. The application being multiplatform (mobile or computer) you can open your images of any device thanks to your Creative Cloud account and your retouching are passed on (synchronized) on all your devices. This online backup requires internet connection.

The main asset of Lightroom is, of course, the development of your photos in raw raw format with possible adjustment of images (colors and white balances in particular.)). You will also find a slideshow management tool. And, of course, Lightroom can be used jointly at Photoshop !

Like most Adobe software and other image processing software, you must export your images instead of saving them. You can export them to the JPG, TIFF, PSD (Photoshop), PNG, DNG format or even the original format (the RAW format generally). In addition to the format, other export parameters can be defined: dimensions, resolution, colorimetric space, etc. Note that you can save these settings to reuse them later.

Lightroom also sets up a preset system that you can save and export in the form of a catalog. These presets are actually settings and parameters (light, contrast, color correction, white balance. ) that you can save in format .lrtemplate and use on each photo to save time. Note that many photographers and graphic designers share their catalog of presets on the internet.
