Configure Google Chrome for Android devices using intune

You can use an intune application configuration strategy to configure Google Chrome for Android devices. Application settings can be applied automatically. For example, you can specifically define the bookmarks and the URLs that you want to block or authorize.

Preconditions

  • The User Android Entreprise device must be entered in Intune. For more information, see Configure the registration of Android Enterprise devices with professional profile belonging to the user.
  • Google Chrome is added as a Google Play managed app. For more information on managed Google Play, see connect your intune account to your managed Google Play account.

Add the Google Chrome application to Intune

Search and approve Google Chrome

  1. Connect to the Microsoft Intune administration center.
  2. Select Applications>All applications>Add, Then add the application Google Play managed .
  3. Access managed Google Play, search with Google Chrome and approve.
  4. Assign Google Chrome to a group as a compulsory application type. Google Chrome is automatically deployed when the device is inscribed in Intune.

Add an application configuration for managed AE devices

  1. In the Microsoft Intune administration center, select Strategies applications> ofconfiguration> applicationAdd>Managed devices.
  2. Define the following details:
    • Name : name of the profile that appears in the portal.
    • Description : Description of the profile that appears in the portal.
    • Type of device registration : this parameter is defined on Managed devices.
    • Platform : select Android.

Add a Google Chrome configuration strategy

  • Click on Associated application To display the component Associated application . Search and select Google Chrome. This list contains the managed Google Play applications that you have approved and synchronized with intune. Select Google Chrome under Associate Application
  • Click on Configuration settings, select Use the configuration designer, then click on Add To select the configuration keys. Add use the configuration designerHere is the example of current parameters:
    • Block access to an URL list : [“*”]
    • Allow access to an URL list : [“baidu.com “,” YouTube.com “,” chromium.org “,” chrome: //*”]
    • Managed bookmarks : [,,,,]>]
    • Availability in incognito mode : Disabled mode incognito

    Once the configuration settings have been added using the configuration designer, they are listed in a table.

    Check the device settings

    Once the Android device is registered with Android Enterprise, the Google Chrome application managed with the wallet icon is automatically deployed.
