VW, Renault, Tesla. What do we know about these future cars, affordable electric stars
The cabin presented in the ID concept.2all offers a modern presentation, to see also if it will be the interior of the entry -level version. Problem, if this is the case, it could harm the sales of the current ID.3 by 2026. A model that will soon be restyled, but with an interior very close to the first generation, which was not spared from criticism and software bugs.
Tesla, Renault, Volkswagen. The future battle of electric cars at less than € 25,000
Several car manufacturers work on city electric cars at less than 25,000 euros. This segment promises to be the next battlefield of a boiling market.

With the energy transition, car manufacturers are now faced with two major challenges: the 2035 deadline, from which they will no longer be able to sell thermal vehicles in Europe, and the influx of new cheap Chinese models. This is why several compact vehicle projects offered under the symbolic bar of 25,000 euros will soon see the light of day. Because currently, apart from the Dacia Spring, the Renault Twingo E-Tech, which can be considered as “low-cost” vehicles, or standard Chinese MG4, the entry ticket to access a car electric requires a budget of almost 30,000 euros, once the ecological bonus has deduced. And we are talking about compact models here like the Peugeot E-208 or the Renault Zoé. If you wish to acquire a sedan or a SUV, the bill can climb much higher.
Id.2all de Volkswagen: “technology at an affordable price”
Faced with the Chinese offensive to come, the manufacturers must get out of the models that are both efficient and reliable, but also accessible. Several affordable compact compact projects, with a first call price under 25,000 euros are today on track. Among car manufacturers, it usually starts with a concept car. This is the case with Volkswagen, which has just presented its new ID concept. 2all, prefiguring its future electric compact, expected by 2025.

Volkswagen ID.2all: an electric compact offering 450 km of autonomy at less than € 25,000
Volkswagen unveiled the ID.2all, an electric city car which will be marketed at less than € 25,000 from 2025. A concept embodying the new.
The idea is to offer here a car as spacious as a golf course and as affordable as a polo shirt. There is therefore no question of taking out a model at a discount, since the ID.2all will be equipped with many high-tech features such as the driving assistant (Travel Assist), for partially automated driving, or LED lights who know how to adapt their intensity and their scope to each situation (IQ technology.Light). It will also be the very first model from the new “Meb Entry” electric modular platform before. Volkswagen announces the presence of an electric motor of 166 kW (226 hp), powered by a battery with a capacity of 56 kWh. The announced autonomy is 450 km (WLTP mixed cycle) and 0 to 100 km/h is made in 7 seconds. The price of € 25,000 for this ID.2all could be a good deal on the compact segment
An electric “Renault 5” that is long
Note that Skoda and Seat, who will benefit from the same platform, will also offer in a future close to models at a competitive price. But the Volkswagen group is obviously not the only one to work on a 100 % electric model that is both efficient and (relatively) cheap. Renault, a pioneer on the whole electric, is on the same wavelength, with a project with strongly nostalgic springs.

Renault 5 prototype: what we know about the future replacement for the Zoé
Video // Always at the concept stadium, the next Renault 5 electric takes its first crowd at the Munich Salon, since its Professor.
It is indeed for Renault to revive the legendary R5. In 2021, the French manufacturer thus unveiled an electric car prototype directly inspired by the R5, distinguished by a neo-retro look, symbolized by modern treatment of lines, an amazing light signature and an charging hatch placed under the plug hood. The future electric Renault 5 is expected by 2025, at the latest, at a resolutely competitive price, probably under 25,000 euros in its basic version.

Model 2, Model A, Model C. Tesla’s secret project
If the “historic” manufacturers therefore seek to lower prices, the same goes for the emblematic Tesla. One Tesla at only $ 25,000 (about as much in euros) could indeed soon see the light of day. This model 2 (or a, or else C, depending on the sources) would be a more compact version of the current Model 3, built on the basis of a brand new platform and with a smaller battery. The whole would be produced in the Shanghai factory, in China, the only way for the American manufacturer to really break the prices. Be careful anyway, this project has not yet been officially confirmed. In the meantime, Tesla plays with the prices of these existing models, such as the Model 3 which is available at an attractive price but much above 25,000 euros.
At € 39,990, the Tesla Model 3 still has rivals ?
After a very fluctuating 2022 year in terms of price, the recent price drop in Tesla on its Model 3 and makes them even more at.
VW, Renault, Tesla. What do we know about these future cars, stars of “affordable” electric
Volkswagen has just unveiled what will be its future entry -level electric offer with an ID.2 which should be offered under 25.000 euros in 2026. Enough to get into battle with future Renault R5 and Tesla “Model 2”.
Volkswagen has just unveiled its ID concept.2all (which can be translated into ID, its 100% electric range, “to all”, for all) which gives a good overview of its future entry -level offer.
ID.2 series must be unveiled in 2025, for a commercial launch in 2026, with the aim of offering this car the size of a polo shirt under 25.Euros. A potential future competitor of the Renault R5 and the “Model 2”, the unofficial name of the future Tesla at 25.000 dollars “.
VW ID.2: Volkswagen revenge in electric
While sales of its ID range launched in 2019 are struggling to take off, Volkswagen has just revealed what should allow it to actually rise in this electric market. A market still largely dominated by Tesla in 2022. And Chinese manufacturers, for the moment rather concentrated on their local market, but which are starting to position themselves in Europe with models displaying a value for money at the moment unbeatable, as with the compact MG4.
In China, Volkswagen is currently a market leader in all engines combined, with 3.15 million sales in 2022. But its sales of 100% electric models represent barely 5% of this total.
The promise?
4 meters long, this ID.2 is getting closer to the current polo shirt. But with an interior closer to that of a golf course, thanks to the space gain linked to the electric motorization.
Essential point for an electric car: autonomy. Volkswagen announces “up to 450 km”, but without specifying if it will concern the version within 25.Euros. Same thing for the recharging capacity, which would make it possible to go from 10 to 80% of autonomy in 20 minutes on a quick continuous current terminal, and up to 11 kW by alternating current.
A single engine should be offered, placed at the front, it will offer 166 kW of power, or 226 horsepower.
Only certainty: Volkswagen plans to offer a fairly complete model, even at the entry -level, with the latest version of its “Travel Assist” (adaptive regulator and tracking of the road lines) and, still happy, an electric itinerary planner.
Currently: an e-up! 27.945 euros
Currently, the Volkswagen electric range in France starts with the e-up! from 27.945 euros (bonus of 5000 euros unwilling). A model of 3.5 meters, almost 50 centimeters less than a polo shirt and the future ID.2.
There is a 32.3 kWh battery, with a theoretical autonomy of 260 km, and an engine with a power of 61 kW (83 horsepower).
ID.3 restyled should start just under 40.Euros.
Renault R5: The return of the I affordable made in France?
In February 2021, Renault unveiled its concept R5, presented as quite close to the final version. The objective remains to market it in 2024, hoping for a presentation of the series model at the end of 2023.
The promise?
This model must inaugurate a new CMF-BEV platform. This technical base, cousin of the CMF-B dedicated to thermal motors, but here adapted to the electric. It allows us to use a number of common components: “front train, air conditioning”, notably listed us Gilles Le Borgne, R&D director of the Renault group, during the last Auto of the Auto.
A platform on which will also rest the future 4L and Nissan Micra, enough to reduce costs and offer the R5 under 25.Euros.
If this R5 is to get out of the channels of the Douai factory (North), like the last megane e-tech, it must also limit its costs by taking advantage of the new Electricity pole. With a large majority of suppliers who will eventually be less than 300 kilometers from this site.
Few details have further filtered on the entry -level offer, both in terms of its autonomy, its recharge capacity or the power of its engine. We simply mentioned a version with a small battery (40 kWh, 300 km of autonomy), the one that would start under 25.Euros.
Currently: a Twingo at 25.250 euros
The electric offer is currently starting at 25.250 euros (bonus 5000 euros not deduced) with the Twingo E-Tech (4 places). There is a 22 kWh battery for a range announced at 190 km. The rear engine offers a power of 60 kW (81 horsepower).
It is especially the Zoé, which will be replaced by the R5 with a close format, about 4 meters long, which risks having a difficult end of life. The versatile city dweller currently offers 395 km
Tesla “Model 2”: the future best-seller of the leader of electricity
In September 2020, during a “Battery Day” organized in the middle of COVID (photo above), Elon Musk announced the project to offer a Tesla at 25.000 dollars, three years later.
Hence a certain expectation around the recent “Investor Day” where we expected details on this project, to finally be satisfied with a fairly general presentation of the Tesla plan to improve its production processes and end, ultimately to this model at 25.000 dollars. We are still quite far from the presentation of a serial model.
As a reminder, Tesla had presented the prototype of the Model 3 in March 2016, with the first deliveries to the United States in July 2017 (but the version at 35.000 dollars is only offered from February 2019 on the configurator). In Europe, deliveries started in early 2019.
The promise?
We do not finally know much about this future model, apart from its targeted price of 25.000 dollars. Tesla never mentioned the autonomy or power of this model, to follow therefore.
Currently: a model 3 to 44.990 euros
Since the recent price drop operated by Tesla, Model 3 Start at 44.990 euros (bonus of 5000 euros unwanted). For this price, this version offers a range announced at 491 km, a maximum speed of 225 km/h and a 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. Tesla has not communicated in fact since 2017 battery or power capacity figures (with rare exceptions as with The latest Tesla Model S and X Plaid With 1020 horses announced on its official website).
