Google Workspace: customers have trouble swallowing new pricing

By announcing in October the rebranding of the G Suite in Google Workspace, Google had well mentioned a layout of its price grid. At first glance, nothing too painful. Google maintained the prices of its old G Suite Basic and G Suite Business Packages, respectively at € 5.2 and € 10.4 excl. Tax, on its new Google Workplace Starter and Google Workplace Business Standard packages. Certainly with a few functional specifications revised downwards, especially in terms of storage capacity. But the big black point was elsewhere: customers were quick to discover that these prices were only valid for 299 maximum deployments. While the G Suite Basic and G Suite Business Packages could be deployed in unlimited numbers, now customers must take out “enterprise” licenses at € 17.3 excl. Tax beyond 300 users.

A Google partner thus brings us back the case of one of its customers who had subscribed to a business service at € 10.4 excl. Tax per month for 500 users and a BASIC offer at € 5.2 excl. Tax per month for 800 users. Or a monthly budget of around 9.360 € HT for 1.300 users. This customer is offered today to migrate to an offer including 299 Starter accounts at € 5.20 excl. Tax and 992 “Enterprise” accounts at € 17.30. Or a monthly total that doubles at more than 18.700 € HT. “” What can justify this ? “Asks this partner.
