Why use Google Translation ?

Launched since 2005, Google Translation (GG Trad for those who do not have time ^^) is a free service allowing to translate text, a photo and voice and this in offline mode for 59 languages.

Over the course of updates, the application has enriched and offers the translation of 103 languages thanks to text entering. If the entry of the text is not suitable, it is also possible to draw characters instead of using the keyboard and translating handwriting in 93 languages.
Translation is also available within other applications thanks to the function Press to translate to select text in an app and choose the translation in the options.

Automatic translation of vocal conversations

Google translation passes the translators into a new era thanks to the automatic translation with vocal recognition in both directions and in 32 languages. It is thus possible to discuss each turn in their language or to leave the auto mode to recognize and translate each interlocutor.

Each person can thus consult the vocal translation of the other in text or thanks to the vocal synthesis.
The application also offers an individual translation thanks to voice recognition, it is enough to speak in its first language to read the translation or listen to the vocal synthesis according to the language. Even if the app sometimes takes a few seconds to make the translation, it is clear that the voice recognition is excellent.

The camera to translate everything

Whether it is an information panel, a notice or an article in a newspaper, Google Translation makes it possible to instantly translate text thanks to the camera and this in 38 languages. To do this, 3 modes exist: Instantaneous Allows you to direct the camera to the text in question and replace it on the screen, To scan To take a photo, select the text and translate it then finally Import To choose an image in the gallery.

Google translation in practice

Google translation is certainly the most used service. It is therefore not surprising that Google has refined it over the years. More than just a tool to get a word in a foreign language, it allows you to go much further and obtain multimedia results.

Did you know for example that it is possible to translate a photo, or even a conversation in real time ? Rather practical when you go abroad ! Besides, in passing, know that it is possible to make a request directly by SMS and that it is not required to have an internet connection.

What alternatives to Google Translation ?

Users are increasingly fond of automatic translation services. If Google translation is widely acclaimed, other efficient software exist. Here are the main alternatives to Google Translation.

Reverso Context

Making it possible to translate around fifteen languages, including French, Reverso Context is such a complete as clear translation application. It is accessible in free or paid version. Reverso Context works as a dictionary and gives the user all the tools to translate all kinds of sentences or expressions. This tool can be used offline: for that, download the dictionary necessary in advance. Educational, it includes many games, suitable for all kinds of levels, to encourage users to improve. Another very useful feature: Reverso Context can translate the text available on an image (via the camera of a smartphone or in the gallery of a device). The available results can be read aloud by the software, which allows you to know the correct pronunciation of the words.

Deep Ai

The Deepl Translator application (or Deep AI) has chosen to specialize in the translation of texts and not in voice exchanges. Of a rather sober appearance, this tool is based on the database linguee and makes it possible to translate up to 26 languages. This tool is recognized for its performance and the quality of its translations. Great importance is notably given to the context. This tool has a perfectly fluid and efficient free version. The paid version makes it possible to process larger documents and ensures the protection of personal data.

Microsoft Translator

The Microsoft Translator Tool ensures more than 70 languages and has very useful features. It facilitates international exchanges, orally as in writing. The simultaneous translation of conversations is its main asset. Just launch the tool, tell him the languages involved so that the latter plays the performers, vocal, but also written. Speech flow can be adjusted, if necessary. Group conversations are also supported. Regarding writing, Microsoft Translator is also very efficient, especially for images. Well thought out, the software also offers a phrase book, which adapts to everyday situations (stay, move, etc.) and keep the history of the translations he has carried out.

Linguee

Pluringue dictionary par excellence, the Linguee translation tool is known for its simplicity. Launched in 2010 on the web, it is also available in the form of an Android or iOS application. Linguee is the big brother of the Deepl Translator tool and works with him in a complementary way. For each research, this service is not content to provide a unique response: it provides users with proposals issued by professional lexicographers. It is also possible to listen to the words to know their pronunciation. Linked to Wikipedia, the interface is sober and easy to handle. Even if other languages are available, the translation of English is its strong point.
