The iPhone 13 takes better photos than the iPhone 12 Pro, according to DXOMARK

In terms of photo and video, the current Apple standard is doing better than the old high -end.

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro do not seem very different from their predecessors, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. Nevertheless, Apple made them progress on certain very specific points, which could sometimes sin on the generation of 2020. The first substantial improvement concerns autonomy, clearly increasing on this new generation.

The second is the photo, as we have seen in our iPhone 13 tests and iPhone 13 Pro. This progress has even enabled the standard model to exceed the old flagship of the range, the iPhone 12 Pro, according to the latest DxOMark ranking.

The specialized site has just granted a score of 138 to the iPhone 13. The iPhone 12 Pro was only entitled to 135 points on the photo part. Same observation on the video side, where the new iPhone offers a score of 117, against 112 for the iPhone 12 pro.

Even if the iPhone 13 only offers two sensors, a large angle and an ultra-wide-angle, against three on the iPhone 12 pro which was entitled to a telephoto lens, the new standard of Apple manages to surpass its predecessor on almost all points.

DXOMARK found the iPhone 13 particularly convincing, with excellent colors, a balance of whites perfectly fair and well -transcribed flesh tones. Progress has also been identified on the side of the autofocus. The iPhone 13 indeed uses a double pixel system, while the iPhone 12 Pro was based on a phase detection autofocus.

Everything is not perfect despite everything. The absence of a telephoto is made, as is the digital noise still too present as soon as the light is missing. In our iPhone 13 test, we also noted these problems, and regretted the absence of a third focal length which would bring many more creative possibilities to the smartphone. Maybe next year ?
